5 Day Typical Primate Safari
Track chimpanzees, monkeys, and gorillas in their natural habitat
Day 1: Entebbe-Kibale forest; Home of Chimps
Today after breakfast, transfer to Kibale National park known as world’s primate capital because of its 13 primates species; proceed to Fort Portal traversing through spectacular tea plantations and local homesteads. You will arrive in fort portal town around noon for lunch. After lunch
proceed to your Lodge and later do Bigodi swamp walk or village walk, dinner and overnight at in Fort Portal town.
Day 2: Chimp Trekking and Nature walk
At 6:30 am, take your breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing by the park ranger. At 8:30 am you will transfer to the beginning of the tracking trail. Usually it takes a minimum of 3 hours tracking the chimps in the forest. After the chimp trek return to the lodge for a hot lunch as you prepare to go for an evening nature walk in the Bigodi wetland. Expect to see some primates including different monkey species; and a plethora of birds including the great blue turaco. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, embark on the trip to Bwindi national park in south western part of Uganda. On Your way undertake a game drive en route in Ishasha sector in search of the tree climbing lions. This section of the park is well endowed with the infamous climbing lions together with other
wild game that dwell in this woodland part of the park. The tree climbing lions prefer to lie flat on fig tree branches in the mid-morning sun while waiting for their prey. After this encounter, proceed on the drive to Bwindi arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Gorilla Tracking
In the morning after breakfast, you will gather at the park headquarters for briefing, and straight into the forest to search for Gorillas and you will have a chance to penetrate the impenetrable Bwindi Forest in search for these humble Giant Apes. You will be allowed one hour to stay in
the presence of the gorillas, as you observe and photographing. Later proceed to the famous lake Bunyonyi for relaxation. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 5: Departure
Enjoy your breakfast and transfer to Entebbe airport-Uganda or Kigali airport-Rwanda through the spectacular and picturesque hills of Kigezi popularly known as ‘the Switzerland of Africa’ for the next destination.
